Update on packinghouse changes at Dendy Orchards for 2016
We are putting in a new hydro-cooler this year and decided a few weeks ago to also take the step to a defect sorter. This will affect staffing for the coming season. There will be no more piecework sorting and net loss of 20 to 30 sorting positions. There will be about 12 new positions including more box filling lines to staff, and a need for a sorter/QC on each of those lines, and there will also be a few other new jobs.
Experienced sorters who would like to return will have first priority on hourly work in the packing house, or may move to the picking crew for piecework picking. Please let us know your wishes as soon as possible.
Email us at now if you have not already contacted us.
If you are applying to get on the picking crew, please copy Niel Dendy as he is handling that hiring.
We are also looking for a licensed fork lift driver, and some other specialized work, so please remind us of your skills and experience when you apply, and what work interests you in the packing house or orchard.
The reduction in staff will mean fewer people but better conditions in the camp, which was not good last year. We hope to clean that scene up for everyone's benefit.
We may have another early season if the weather stays this warm much longer, so stay tuned.

For work applications, please email us with information about your experience and job type preference. If not Canadian, a work or working holiday visa is required.

If you are a returning employee, please email us before the end of March to confirm you wish to return. Places will not be guaranteed after that.

Click on Work with Us for more information about working with us in the future.
